Anne Murphy

Anne Murphy

Recruitment

Anne is the mother of a teenager with psoriatic arthritis who was diagnosed at the age of 6.  Her daughter has weathered multiple treatment regimens as well as surgery to control her disease.  Professionally, Anne is a medical researcher and professor in a medical school, but has devoted her volunteer time as a parent liaison in the pediatric rheumatologist's practice that treats her daughter. She acts as an information resource for parents, and helps them wade through issues dealing with their child's needs in the school environment.  She is convinced that additional funding for research in pediatric rheumatology is an absolute necessity that all afflicted families can help support.

Raising funds for research of pediatric rheumatic diseases has become a recent passion and focal point for us. It has become a very personal and real issue in our lives since our 10 year old daughter passed away. She was afflicted with juvenile dermatomyositis and juvenile arthritis. It is our goal to help prevent other children from having the same physical limitations and pain that she had and to increase their chances of a normal life.
